Audio Visual (AV) Installer

Job Responsibilities:

An Audio Visual (AV) Installer at The Office People is responsible for the expert installation, configuration, and setup of various AV equipment such as projectors, screens, and audio systems. This role includes conducting site assessments to determine optimal equipment placement, troubleshooting and resolving technical issues, and collaborating with design teams to ensure installations meet both technical and aesthetic standards. The installer will also instruct clients on system use, manage inventory of AV components, and stay abreast of industry trends and new technologies. Ensuring safety and compliance with regulations during installations are paramount, as is providing exceptional customer service to uphold the company's reputation for excellence.

 

Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in AV technology is preferred.
Proven experience as an AV installer or similar role, with a solid understanding of AV system design, installation, and troubleshooting.
Ability to read and interpret electronic schematics and architectural blueprints.
Familiarity with various hand and power tools, testing and troubleshooting equipment.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to explain technical information to non-technical users.
Flexibility to work in different environments and adapt to schedule changes as needed.
Must possess a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 50 pounds and work at heights or in confined spaces.

 

Responsibilities:

Maintain a clean, neat, professional appearance. 
Wearing the company uniform during all project related duties unless specifically directed otherwise by a supervisor.
Traveling to client sites to troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve Telecommunications and Data/IT
equipment issues as well as equipment maintenance.
Install AV equipment such as projectors, screens, speakers, and video conferencing systems.
Conduct site evaluations to plan equipment placement and installation.
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with AV systems.
Train clients on the use and maintenance of installed AV systems.
Stay updated on new AV technologies and industry practices.
Ability to properly install both copper and fiber optic cable.
Ability to properly terminate copper cable (Cat5e, Cat6, etc.).
Ability to properly create and install labels.
Ability to perform all component and system testing.
Ability to complete the tasks assigned in a timely manner.
Ability to understand basic wiring diagrams and installation instructions.  
Ability to complete the tasks assigned in a timely manner.
Ability to perform as crew leader as assigned.  Ability to assure that all team members reporting to you complete their assigned tasks in a timely manner.  Ability to terminate common types of fiber optic fittings (SC, ST, LC) efficiently and to industry,
manufacturer and AFL standards.
Ability to complete Telecommunication Room build-outs including rack construction, ladder
rack installation, wire management and backboard construction.
Ability to articulate the differences and similarities in the testing requirements for the different
categories of copper media (Category 5e, Category 6, etc.).
Ability to configure and set-up test equipment to perform all required tests on each category of
copper media using a variety of manufacturer test equipment.
Ability to perform and document optical attenuation tests on single mode and multi-mode optical strands.
Ability to configure, operate and analyze test data from Optical Time Domain Reflectometers.
Must understand the National Electrical Code and Local Building Codes as they apply to low
voltage to ensure that no violations are being performed on assigned projects.
Ability to ground and bond all applicable components according to Project Scope of Work, Local
and National Codes and Industry Standards.
Technicians must possess the desire and ability to train other Technicians.

 

Ideal Candidates will have:

AV, IT & Physical Security technical knowledge a plus, including prior hands-on experience with installations, programming, and servicing of said systems.
Familiarity with electrical and networking infrastructure.
The ability to work independently, with little oversight.
The candidate must complete all required training requirements for this position. This may
include on-site familiarization training with our installation team. Be able to climb stairs and access construction projects where uneven and cluttered conditions may exist.

The physical demands of this position are those that are necessary to meet the duties and responsibilities of this position.

Finger & wrist dexterity & hand/eye coordination.
Ability to work from heights such as man lifts, scissor lifts & rooftops utilizing proper fall
protection.  
Ability including but not limited to climbing stairs, ladders, and/or scaffolds.
Ability to use small hand tools.
Ability to use power tools.
Ability to walk, stand, bend, lift up to 75 lbs
Possess a Valid Driver’s License with a clean Motor Vehicle Record.
Proficient in MS Office, specifically Excel, Word, Visio, and PowerPoint

 

Working Conditions May Include:

Perform job in reference to indoor & outdoor environments under various environmental conditions.
The ability to accept periodic assignments that involve travel away from the immediate corporate office area, based on project scope, client needs, and business needs.
Exposure to noisy or dusty conditions; chemicals & solvents; mechanical, electrical, and/or other hazards.  General hours of Monday through Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm, but ability to provide support during and outside regular business hours may be required.
